Where do our jackets come from?
Created in our international design center at the foot of Mont Blanc, France, this jacket is then crafted by our suppliers in Bangladesh. These partners possess real expertise in jacket manufacturing and with whom we work closely. This trusting relationship with our industrial partners allows us to create high-quality technical products.
Membranes
A product's waterproofness depends on two main criteria: its component and its construction. This product was constructed with a membrane. It's a type of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being flexible, lightweight, and breathable.
Working conditions in our production workshops
We guarantee compliance with our code of conduct by our suppliers, who are often located in developing countries where our presence promotes job creation. Through audits and on-site teams, we ensure that employees benefit from a quality work environment based on respect, personal development, and environmental protection.
Hood
Adjustable in height with an elastic cord and tightening piece. Adjustable in depth with a Velcro strap positioned at the back of the hood. Visor on the top of the hood for good face protection.
main component
2,5-layer construction: The membrane is bonded under the outer fabric and protected by a thin film on the inside. We use it for lightweight jackets.
Why the choice of recycled polyester
By recycling plastic bottles or used textiles to produce our polyester, we reduce the use of petroleum resources while preserving the qualities and performance of the material for your mountain hikes.
Layered construction
2,5-layer construction: The membrane is bonded under the outer fabric and protected by a thin film on the inside. We use it for lightweight jackets.
Component waterproofing
To ensure the waterproofing level of a component, laboratory tests are performed. This involves measuring a fabric's resistance to water pressure expressed in mm of water column (test based on the JIS 1092 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. This component has a waterproof rating of 15000 mm and therefore withstands the pressure exerted by 15000 mm of water column. This is also equivalent to 15000 Schmerbers.
How to reactivate deperlence
The water repellency of a fabric is its ability to let water slide off its surface without absorbing it. The textile does not become waterlogged and remains light and breathable. Water repellency is achieved by a treatment applied to the outer surface of the fabric. This treatment needs to be renewed during the lifetime of the garment. Water repellency can be reactivated by putting the jacket in the dryer for 10 minutes at a low temperature. You can also use the re-waterproofing agent (ref. 8554908)
Breathability
The breathability of a component is measured by its “Thermal Evaporative Resistance” (RET). This is its ability to allow water vapor produced by the body during exercise to escape to the outside and thus prevent water from accumulating on the skin. The lower the RET value, the more breathable the fabric. RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabric RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric RET ≤ 20: not very breathable fabric This product has been rated at 10 RET
Cut
Regular cut. Interior volume allowing this jacket to be worn in combination with a warm 2nd layer garment, such as a sweater or fleece.
Jacket waterproofness
To ensure the jacket's waterproofing level, we conduct laboratory tests to simulate rain scenarios. This garment has been validated in a shower test under 60 l of water / m² / hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a mountain downpour.
Product design: our know-how
Our global Quechua design center is based in Passy, at the foot of Mont-Blanc in Haute Savoie. This location makes it a real meeting place between our teams (designers, product managers, engineers, etc.) and outdoor sports enthusiasts.
