The impermeability of a fabric, ensured by a coating or a membrane, is measured in Schmerber or mm H20 (pressure exerted by a column of water). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. This jacket is designed with a coated waterproof component (JIS 1092 standard): this component resists 5000 mm H20 (Schmerber) before washing (i.e. the pressure exerted by 5 meters of column of water).

The waterproofness of this jacket is not limited to that of its components: the assembly technique of the different parts is also an evaluation criterion. Sewn then waterproofed, the overall waterproofness of your jacket is measured using a water resistance test. shower developed by Decathlon, which simulates rain of different intensities. To maintain the water repellency of the fabric, we advise you to reactivate it regularly. You can do this every 3 washes (abundant rinsing is essential), or after ten uses in the rain. You can easily reactivate the water repellency, at hot: - with your dryer for 15 minutes (synthetic program), - with a hair dryer 20 cm away, making 2 trips, - or 2 passes with the iron, set to delicate without steam function

The fabric of this jacket is breathable: RET=12. The breathability of a component is measured by its “Thermal Evaporative Resistance” (RET). This is its ability to let the water vapor produced by the body escape. outwards during exercise and thus avoid the accumulation of water on the skin.The lower the RET value, the more breathable the fabric.RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabricRET ≤ 12: breathable fabricRET ≤ 20: poorly breathable fabric

The hood can be adjusted in height with a drawstring. It can be adjusted in depth thanks to a Velcro tab positioned at the back of the hood. The hood has a memory visor for good protection of the face.

The jacket's lining is made up of two materials: mesh in the back to promote the breathability of the garment and nylon at the hips to optimize ease of movement and resistance to abrasion. On the hood, we used a peach skin effect material with a soft touch for more comfort.

The jacket has seven pockets in total! Two pockets to warm your hands on the sides. Two large exterior bellows pockets closed with a flap and a snap button. An exterior chest pocket and an interior pocket, both closed with a zip to secure your personal belongings. An interior mesh pocket to store your gloves, for example, and keep them warm against your body!

This jacket is designed for day-long hiking at a pace of 5 km/h, with no elevation gain. During sporting effort, you sweat more or less depending on the intensity or length of the effort. If the breathability of the fabric is not adapted to the effort, the vapor of perspiration condenses inside the jacket. We are wet inside: it is not the rain which pierces, but the vapor of perspiration which condenses. You have to choose your waterproof jacket according to your type of effort.
