How to maintain your jacket?
This jacket has waterproof strips (to ensure perfect waterproofing) which are sensitive to machine washing and may come off over time. We therefore recommend using a sponge with water to clean any marks on your jacket, and only washing it very rarely in the machine at 30°C, if you want it to accompany you on your hikes for as long as possible.
Our environmental approach
Because we understand that we must act to preserve our playground, Quechua is committed to limiting the environmental impact of its products. Thanks to a more technical component, our MH500 jackets are lighter, reducing their CO2 emissions by an average of 28%. This is still not enough, which is why we are working to make this jacket 100% eco-designed one day.

Cut
This jacket has a fitted cut. The 13% elastane fabric and raglan sleeves that extend up to the neckline provide greater stretch and freedom of movement during your hike. A warm layer, such as a fleece or a lightweight down jacket, can be worn underneath. You can choose your usual size, or one size larger if you don't want to wear it fitted.
Where do our MH500 jackets come from?
Created in our international design center at the foot of Mont Blanc, France, this jacket is then crafted by our suppliers in China and Vietnam. These partners possess real expertise in the manufacture of our jackets and with whom we work closely. This trusting relationship with our industrial partners allows us to create high-quality technical products.
Working conditions in our production workshops
We guarantee compliance with our code of conduct by our suppliers, who are often located in developing countries where our presence promotes job creation. Through audits and on-site teams, we ensure that employees benefit from a quality work environment based on respect, personal development, and environmental protection.
Breathability test
The breathability of a component is measured by its “Thermal Evaporative Resistance” (RET). This is its ability to allow water vapor produced by the body during exercise to escape to the outside and thus prevent water from accumulating on the skin. The lower the RET value, the more breathable the fabric. RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabric RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric RET ≤ 20: not very breathable fabric Our product has a RET of 6.
Waterproofing test
Waterproofing is measured by a fabric's resistance to water pressure expressed in mm of water column (JIS 1092 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. The component of this product has a waterproof rating of 20 mm and therefore withstands the pressure exerted by 000 mm of water column. This is also equivalent to 20 Schmerbers.
Jacket construction: 3 layers
This jacket is constructed with 3 layers, the best protection available on the market: the membrane is glued between the inner layer and the outer layer of the component (hence the name 3-layer component). The membrane is a kind of very thin Polyurethane film, which makes the component waterproof, while remaining breathable. It is protected by a knit, and has the advantage of being more flexible, lighter and often more breathable than a coating.
How to reactivate the water repellency of your jacket?
The water repellency of a fabric is its ability to allow water to slide off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents your jacket from becoming waterlogged and keeps it lightweight and breathable. Water repellency is achieved through a treatment applied to the outer surface of the fabric, but these properties may be impaired over time. All the steps to reactivate water repellency are described below: https://conseilsport.decathlon.fr/conseils/comment-reactiver-la-deperlance-de-sa-veste-tp_22965
