This softshell jacket is ideal for trekking

      Product information

Our team of trekking enthusiasts developed this warm, versatile windproof jacket to help you cope with changing weather conditions.

It's not always easy to define what a softshell is.

The softshell jacket or “the softshell” is simply essential protection for outdoor activities. Its name comes from its “softshell” technology which is an assembly of a windproof and breathable membrane, sandwiched between the water-repellent outer face and the inner face which can be made of a more or less warm comfortable fleece.

The benefits of a softshell jacket

A softshell garment offers good thermal insulation thanks to its outer fabric and membrane, which will protect you from the wind, as well as its lining. Unlike a parka or a waterproof jacket, the fabrics of softshell jackets are flexible, breathable, and coated with a water-repellent coating, allowing this garment to withstand light rain. Highly functional, softshell jackets provide a sporty look that's both chic and casual.

      Windproof and heat supply

Wind significantly increases the sensation of cold. For example, at an outside temperature of 0°C, with a 20km wind, the perceived temperature will be -10°C. So-called "windproof" components help eliminate this discomfort by creating a barrier against the wind; they thus very effectively reduce heat loss.

The level of breathability of this jacket

The main fabric has a windproof membrane with a breathability of 3009 g/m2 /24h (according to JIS L1099, method A2).

      Data sheet and functionality

2 hand pockets with zip closure. Interior flap under the front zip to protect you from the wind. Protective stand-up collar. Elasticated cuffs. Elasticated bottom of the garment.

The level of water repellency of this jacket

The water repellency of a fabric is its ability to allow water to slide off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the textile from becoming waterlogged and thus remains light and warm. Water repellency is achieved through a perfluorocarbon-free (PFC-free) treatment applied to the outer surface of the fabric, but it may be affected by use. We recommend reactivating it after each wash.

      How to reactivate water repellency

You can find out how to reactivate the water repellency of your down jacket in our article "Maintaining, washing and repairing a waterproof or water-repellent garment" available on the website https://conseilsport.decathlon.fr/. You can also use the textile re-waterproofing liquid available in store or on the website under reference 8554908.
