What is the difference between a stunt scooter and a "normal" scooter?
The differences between a stunt scooter and a classic scooter are quite similar to those between a BMX bike and a city bike. A stunt scooter has wider handlebars and smaller (and therefore more maneuverable) wheels. Its weight is also different (it is lighter) and it is more manageable: the objective being to perform tricks, the handlebars can for example make a complete turn. Finally, the freestyle scooter will also be more rigid and more solid.
How to choose the size of your freestyle scooter?
To choose the right size for your freestyle scooter, you have to stand on it and check that the height of the handlebars reaches hip level, that your arms are stretched and your back straight.
What safety rules for freestyle scooters?
In general, it is advisable to wear protective equipment (helmet, knee pads, elbow pads) to use a scooter. Most serious accidents occur during the first months of use: take the time to learn the basics of use of a scooter to control speed and braking in all emergency situations and whatever the weather conditions (especially on wet ground).
What is the deck made of?
The deck is made of anodized 6061 T6 aluminum. Its triple channel structure with 4 reinforcement rails allows for better stability and better gliding on grinds. Ergonomics making it easier to hold the deck for performing grabs. Dimensions: 110 x 500 mm.
What is the handlebar on this scooter made of?
One-piece 6061 T6 aluminum Y-bar (handlebar) with reinforcement plate. The advantage of aluminum: being lighter than steel. Dimensions = Ø 35,6 mm, h: 590 mm, L: 500 mm. Total height: 830 mm
What size are the wheels?
Oxelo wheels with a diameter of 100 mm, high rebound PU 88A aluminum core. The wheels are mounted on 608Z ABEC-7 NMB bearings for good longevity.
Why are there different wheel sizes?
100, 110 or 120mm? The larger the diameter of the wheel, the more the rider will gain in stability, which will allow him to go faster... The counterpart is the weight. A larger wheel will therefore be heavier and less easy to handle for performing tricks. The wheel size is therefore to be chosen according to its objectives.
What type of fork is fitted to this scooter?
Reinforced T6 aluminum fork. Fork compatible with wheels with a diameter of 100 or 110 mm (integrated spacer system. The spacer is located between the two bearings to relieve the pressure exerted on these bearings).
What is the type of clamp?
Clamp 4 screws in aluminum 6061 T6.
What is a flex brake system?
A "flex brake" is designed to return to its original shape after each impulse. Its main difference compared to a spring brake: it limits vibrations. This system also allows the rubber on the wheel to wear out less quickly.
What type of handles are supplied with the mf1.8+ scooter?
The ribbed TPR handles provide a good grip.
What rules should be observed for the maintenance of a scooter?
We recommend that you check the condition of your scooter before and after each ride, making sure that there is no abnormal play, cracks or sharp edges. Be aware that the wheels and bearings are parts that wear out: remember to check them too and change them if necessary. You can repair and extend the life of your scooter thanks to the spare parts monitored and ordered by the Workshop at your Decathlon store. .
