UPF is a sun protection index (Ultra Violet Protection Factor) standardized and standardized worldwide. It defines the level of textile protection and more precisely the proportion of UV transmission. In order to meet the standards, it must block at least 95% of UV rays. UPF 50+ means that the textile blocks at least 95% of UVA and 98% of UVB.

Based in Hendaye, in the southwest of France, OLAIAN is Decathlon's new surf and bodyboard brand. In our offices “feet in the water” we can design a swimsuit or a surfing suit in one day, then test them directly at sea to check how well they hold up in the waves.

You start surfing or only surf a few times a year, during your holidays or on a surf trip. You stay where you are, in very small waves or foam. You practice for the pleasure of being in the water and for the sensations it gives you. During your sessions, you fall often but you fall in weak waves. We have designed for you a wide range of swimsuits adapted to your occasional practice and your morphology.

All our UV protection t-shirts are UPF50+, meaning they offer the maximum level of sun protection. The choice will therefore be based on the sleeve length and will then depend on the type of stresses during the practice. Surfing is where the constraints are greatest, so we decided to build our range primarily for surfing. For surfing, the choice will be made according to the duration of your sessions: 1 hour, 2 hours, or 3 hours.

1 hour: Occasional use. You can choose between a loose fit (priority given to ease of donning and dry comfort) or a fitted fit (priority given to wet comfort). A buckle system to connect to the shorts provides stability. 2 hours: Regular use. Wet comfort is enhanced thanks to the seamless panels under the arms and the drawstring, which further increases stability. 3 hours: Intensive use. Added thermal properties to last longer in the water.

The fabric that makes up this OLAIAN anti-UV product blocks at least 98% of UVB rays and 95% of UVA rays (UPF 50+). This guarantees effective protection against the sun. It can be used in and out of the water for water sports and water sports. UV filtration is generated by the density of the textile fibers; this protection lasts over time, even after washing. Our UV tops are designed to meet the most demanding surfers. Our design choices also make them compatible with other water sports such as swimming, kitesurfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, water skiing, active sea walking (longe-coast) or SUP (stand-up paddle )

This UV-protective t-shirt reduces friction with your surfboard or bodyboard. The loose fit of the t-shirt makes it easier to put on and provides greater comfort when dry. Choose the fitted cut of the 100 or 500 top if you prefer wet comfort or if you wear it under your wetsuit. Its reduced irritation is proven for 1-hour sessions. If you plan to surf for more than an hour, the UV 1 top is a better choice thanks to the seamless panels under the arms.

Although this t-shirt provides protection from the sun, phenomena such as reflections (on water, sand, etc.), heat, time of day, etc. must be taken into account. Wearing this t-shirt does not exempt you from following appropriate behaviors: wearing sunglasses, wearing a hat or cap, regularly applying suitable sunscreen, drinking regularly, etc.

This anti-UV water tee shirt has a loop at the front to pass the drawstring of the swim shorts to prevent the top from riding up during practice. This solution is recommended for sessions of up to 1 hour. Beyond an hour we recommend choosing the UV 500 top which also has a drawstring and ties on each side to attach to the swimsuit bottom. This will allow a better hold in the wave and therefore better protection.
