Component impermeability

To ensure the waterproofing level of a component, laboratory tests are performed. This involves measuring a fabric's resistance to water pressure expressed in mm of water column (test based on the JIS 1092 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. This component has a waterproof rating of 15000 mm and therefore withstands the pressure exerted by 15000 mm of water column. This is also equivalent to 15000 Schmerbers.

Component breathability

The breathability of a component is measured by its “Thermal Evaporative Resistance” (RET). This is its ability to allow water vapor produced by the body during exercise to escape to the outside and thus prevent water from accumulating on the skin. The lower the RET value, the more breathable the fabric. RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabric RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric RET ≤ 20: not very breathable fabric This product has been rated at 8 RET

Product design: our know-how

Our global Quechua design center is based in Passy, at the foot of Mont-Blanc in Haute Savoie. This location makes it a real meeting place between our teams (designers, product managers, engineers, etc.) and outdoor sports enthusiasts. A great asset for designing your mountain hiking products, and bringing you all our expertise.

Waterproofing of overtrousers

To ensure the jacket's waterproofing level, we conduct laboratory tests to simulate rain scenarios. This garment has been validated in a shower test under 18 cm of rain in 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a mountain storm.

main component

3-layer component with membrane

Cut

Standard fit. Interior volume allows it to be worn over pants, tights, or shorts. Please note: no hems are possible due to the side zippers on the legs.

Layered construction

3-layer construction: The membrane is bonded between the outer fabric and the inner fabric. We use it for durable and high-performance overpants.

Membranes

A product's waterproofness depends on two main criteria: its component and its construction. This product was constructed with a membrane. It's a type of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being flexible, lightweight, and breathable.

Working conditions in our production workshops

We guarantee compliance with our code of conduct by our suppliers, who are often located in developing countries where our presence promotes job creation. Through audits and on-site teams, we ensure that employees benefit from a quality work environment based on respect, personal development, and environmental protection.

Where do our pants come from?

Created in our international design center at the foot of Mont Blanc, France, these overpants are then manufactured by our suppliers in Bangladesh. These partners possess real expertise in the manufacture of overpants and with whom we work closely. This relationship of trust with our industrial partners allows us to create high-quality technical products.

How to reactivate deperlence

The water repellency of a fabric is its ability to let water slide over its surface without absorbing it. The textile does not soak up water and remains light and breathable. Water repellency is obtained by a treatment applied to the outer face of the fabric. This treatment needs to be renewed during the lifetime of the garment. The water repellency can be reactivated by putting the pants in the dryer for 10 minutes at low temperature or by using a re-activating water repellency spray. (Ref: 8551983)
