      Fabric waterproofness

      The waterproofness of a fabric, provided by a coating or a membrane, is measured in Schmerber or mm H20 (pressure exerted by a water column). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. This jacket is designed with a coated waterproof component (JIS 1092 standard): this component resists 5000 mm H20 (Schmerber) before washing (i.e. the pressure exerted by a 5 meter water column).

      Fabric breathability

      To determine whether a fabric is breathable, its Thermal Evaporative Resistance (RET) coefficient is measured in a test based on ISO 11092. The lower the resistance, the more the fabric allows water vapor generated by the body during activity to escape and is breathable. RET < 9: extremely breathable fabric RET < 12: very breathable fabric RET < 20: breathable fabric RET > 20: slightly or not at all breathable fabric.

      Your health at the heart of our design

      The fabric of this jacket is water-repellent: it allows water to slide off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the textile from becoming waterlogged and remains lightweight and breathable. Water-repellent properties are achieved through a treatment applied to the outer surface of the fabric. We have initiated a water-repellent treatment process without perfluorocarbons.

      How to maintain the waterproof resistance of your overtrousers?

      For long-lasting water repellency, we recommend reactivating it regularly. You can do this every 3 washes (thorough rinsing is essential), or after about ten uses in the rain. You can easily reactivate the water repellency using heat: - with your tumble dryer for 15 minutes (synthetic cycle); - with a hair dryer 20 cm away, making 2 back-and-forth movements; - or 2 passes with the iron, set to delicate without steam function.

      Choose your waterproof overtrousers according to your sporting effort

      During a sports effort, we sweat more or less depending on the intensity or the length of the effort. If the breathability of the fabric is not adapted to the effort, the vapor of perspiration condenses inside the overtrousers. We are wet inside: it is not the rain which pierces, but the vapor of perspiration which condenses. It is therefore necessary to choose your overtrousers according to your type of effort. This product is designed for a two-hour hike at a maximum pace of 5 km/h.

      Recommended complementary product

      To also protect your upper body and have a complete set that is very effective against wind and showers, we recommend the men's Raincut 1/2 zip or full zip jackets.
