With its symmetrical shape and reduced height, the Play 120 doesn't look like traditional skateboards: For more stability, the wheelbase is increased and the trucks are inclined. The result? The board is lower to allow younger riders to push more easily. And with the trucks on the nose and tail, there's no more leverage and therefore no more goofy or regular positions, hence the symmetrical shape... And a board that breaks the mold to better discover sliding.
"We wanted a board adapted to the real use of a child aged 3 to 7, that is to say learning to push, roll and turn. That's why we put real bearings for sliding: learning a sport must remain fun, if you're struggling all the time it's complicated. We were able to have the board tested in skateboard schools for toddlers in Dordogne, to create a simple and suitable product. The idea is that a child can have fun with it."
"Obviously, the first piece of advice for learning to skateboard is to equip yourself properly: helmets, elbow pads, knee pads, wrist guards... Protective gear allows you to learn how to fall without hurting yourself. It's part of skateboarding, just like learning to walk. A bit like in judo, you first learn how to fall. The second piece of advice is to find a suitable place to learn: a flat area, without traffic. An empty parking lot on Sunday works very well!"
To adapt our board to 3-7 year olds, we increased the wheelbase by spacing out the trucks: the board is lower and there is no longer any leverage on the nose and tail. But since it's still a skateboard, we chose ABEC 3 bearings that offer real glide quality and softer bushings to learn to turn more easily. And to accompany you longer, the holes to put the trucks in the classic position are already present on the board.
