Anatomically shaped hood with drawstring. Double-slider YKK zipper with anti-snag system for optimal ventilation. Draft excluder along the zipper to prevent heat loss. Internal zippered pocket. What is the fabric resistance of the MT900 5°C Down sleeping bag?

The exterior is made of 100% polyamide fabric, 27 g/m², 10 denier, and 30 denier ripstop. This fabric is resistant to 80,000 abrasion cycles. This resistance is calculated using the Martindale test (Standard EN 12947-2). This test involves rubbing the bag's material against another material to determine the product's wear limits. The interior lining is made of 100% polyamide fabric, 35 g/m², 20 denier.

How to avoid getting cold in the MT900 5°C Down sleeping bag?

Dress simply (one layer of clothing, ideally merino wool, is enough). Protect your extremities with a hat, gloves, socks and hand warmers if necessary. Use a sleeping bag liner to optimize warmth and avoid washing your sleeping bag too much. Choose a mattress with good insulation (R-value > 1). And a little tip: contract your muscles (3% of the energy consumed is transformed into heat), but without making any movement that generates a cold draft!

How to care for your MT900 5°C Down sleeping bag?

Even if you regularly use a sleeping bag liner, you'll still need to wash your down sleeping bag from time to time. You'll find all the information on Decathlon's Sports Advice website. In summary: 1/ Machine wash at 30°C with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin cycle. Use a special down detergent (ref: 8817232). 2/ Tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls, repeating 2 or 3 times until completely dry.

What mattress should I use this sleeping bag with?

The protocol for measuring the thermal performance of a sleeping bag uses a mattress with a thermal resistance corresponding to an R-value of 4,8. Using a less insulating mattress will reduce the thermal performance of your sleeping bag. We therefore recommend using an insulating mattress for better thermal comfort.

What is comfort temperature?

We display on all our sleeping bags the comfort temperatures tested by an independent laboratory (AITEX) according to the international standard ISO 23537-1: 2022. The comfort temperature is the minimum temperature at which an average person (woman, 25 years old, 60 kg, 1,60 m) is comfortable, without feeling cold, in a relaxed position. Choose your sleeping bag according to this.

What is recycled feathers?

Using recycled down means using a blend of down and feathers sourced from products that cannot be reused. This limits the use of new resources by repurposing existing materials that would otherwise be discarded. The quality of the filling is controlled through laboratory tests to ensure it retains its technical properties and keeps you warm.

And what is the comfort temperature limit?

The comfort limit temperature is the minimum temperature at which an average person (male, 25 years old, 70 kg, 1,73 m) can sleep curled up without feeling significantly cold. And for your information, the extreme temperature is the minimum temperature at which a person can survive (risk of hypothermia) for 6 hours. This is a safety measure, not a comfort measure.

How to repair your MT900 5°C Down sleeping bag?

When trekking, a snag on a sleeping bag can happen! The good news is that it can be repaired to prevent the tear from getting bigger or the synthetic fibers from escaping. We recommend using self-adhesive repair patches (ref: 8777140). And if you don't feel comfortable doing this, an iron-on patch application service is available in the workshop at your Decathlon store.

Warm and lightweight thanks to the fill power (700 CUIN) of the down used, this sleeping bag is also highly compressible. It features a mummy shape and an adjustable, wrap-around hood with a drawstring.
