Additional Product Information

Breaking in bicycle brake pads is an essential procedure to ensure good braking efficiency.

It involves gradually heating the brake pads and discs to create a uniform contact surface. Before running in, it is important to follow these guidelines: -Clean the brake discs. If you are changing the pads, it is also recommended to change the discs. -Equip yourself. Wear a helmet and make sure you have a computer or a GPS device. -Choose a safe location. Ride on a flat, dry road without obstacles.

The break-in procedure consists of gradually braking several times, at increasing speeds.

It is important to alternate between the front and rear brakes, and to follow these steps: Step 1: Drive at 15 km/h and brake gradually down to 5 km/h, 10 times in a row. Step 2: Drive at 20 km/h and brake gradually down to 5 km/h, 10 times in a row. Step 3: Drive at 25 km/h and brake gradually down to 5 km/h, 10 times in a row. Between each step, release the brakes and drive for a few dozen meters to properly ventilate the disc and caliper.

Technical information

Metal type pads: Hard pad, longer life, high power in extreme conditions, designed especially for mud and sand

Some additional tips for breaking in brake pads:

-Use one brake at a time to avoid overheating the pads. -Ride on a flat road to avoid sudden braking. -Do not apply sudden braking during the bedding-in period. -Be patient. The bedding-in period can take up to 30 minutes. -If you notice a rainbow-like pattern on the discs or if your braking is less effective, this means that your pads are "glazed". If this is the case, do not hesitate to visit a Decathlon Workshop.
