Some additional tips for breaking in brake pads:

Take care of your brakes from the very first turns of the wheel: use one brake at a time, avoid sudden braking, and stay on a level surface. The break-in period can last up to 30 minutes. If you notice a drop in performance or rainbow reflections on the discs, your pads may be glazed. In this case, a visit to the Decathlon Workshop is recommended.

What tools will you need:

When doing this, you may need: A pad spreader, brake cleaner and a microfiber cloth.

The running-in procedure consists of gradually braking several times, at increasing speeds:

Properly breaking in the brakes involves alternating their use and following a three-step protocol: ten brake applications at 15 km/h, then ten at 20 km/h, and finally ten at 25 km/h, each time with a gradual deceleration down to 5 km/h. Between each step, ride freely to give the system a chance to breathe.

Breaking in bicycle brake pads is an essential procedure to ensure good braking efficiency:

Burnishing your brakes helps create even friction between the pads and rotors. Before you begin, clean the rotors thoroughly and replace them if the pads are new. Wear a helmet, check your GPS or computer, and find a flat, clear route.
