Some additional tips for breaking in brake pads:

During the break-in period, use only one brake at a time to avoid overheating the pads. Choose a flat road to limit jolts and avoid sudden braking. The process can take up to 30 minutes, so be patient. If you notice a rainbow-shaped pattern on the discs or a loss of braking efficiency, your pads are probably "glazed." In this case, visit a Decathlon Workshop to have them checked.

What tools will you need:

When doing this, you may need: A pad spreader, brake cleaner and a microfiber cloth.

The break-in procedure consists of gradually braking several times, at increasing speeds.

For effective break-in, alternate between the front and rear brakes, then follow these three steps: Start by braking gradually from 15 km/h to 5 km/h, ten times in a row. Repeat the exercise at 20 km/h, then at 25 km/h. Between each set, ride for a few dozen meters without braking to properly cool the disc and caliper.

Breaking in bicycle brake pads is an essential procedure to ensure good braking efficiency:

Running-in involves gradually heating the pads and discs to form a uniform contact surface. Before running-in, be sure to clean the discs, and if you're changing the pads, it's best to replace the discs as well. Wear a helmet and a GPS or bike computer, then choose a flat, dry, and obstacle-free road.
