To take your measurements:

  • Head:  Wrap a measuring tape around your head, above the eyebrows. Make sure it's parallel to the ground when your head is straight.
  • Chest:  Wrap a measuring tape around your back and come forward as far as your chest goes. Make sure it is straight and parallel to the ground.
    Raise your head, tighten the tape and breathe normally.
  • Size:  Wrap a tape measure around the narrowest part of your waist, above your belly button.
    Raise your head, tighten the tape and breathe normally.
  • Main:  Hold a tape measure at the bend of your thumb. Wrap around your palm.
  • Feet: hold on stand against a wall, heels touching the wall. Place an object (eg a book...) against your longest toe.
    Measure the length between the wall and the object.

      Breaking in bicycle brake pads is an essential procedure to ensure good braking efficiency:

      To ensure optimal braking, bed-in aims to create a uniform contact surface between the pads and the discs. Before you begin, remember to thoroughly clean the brake discs. If you're changing the pads, it's recommended to also replace the discs. Don't forget your helmet and a bike computer or GPS, and choose a flat, dry, and clear road.

      The running-in procedure consists of gradually braking several times, at increasing speeds:

      Brake bedding-in requires consistency: alternate between the front and rear brakes, then apply the brakes ten times at 15 km/h, then 20 km/h, and finally 25 km/h, slowing down to 5 km/h each time. Remember to let the brakes cool between each step by driving gently without applying any pressure.

      Some additional tips for breaking in brake pads:

      For optimal break-in of your bike, apply only one brake at a time to preserve the pads. Choose a flat route for greater consistency and avoid sudden braking. Break-in can take up to 30 minutes, so it's important to be patient. If you notice rainbow reflections on the discs or less efficient braking, this may indicate glazing of the pads. Don't hesitate to consult a technician at a Decathlon Workshop.
