Although roller skating includes a dance category, roller dancing isn't quite the same thing. A disco or funk vibe, hip-hop tones, a few dance steps on roller skates, or a lap around the disco roller rink—does that ring a bell? Roller dancing, which originated in African-American culture, has been enjoying a resurgence around the world in recent years.
Social media is full of skaters who are either beginners or excel at roller skate choreography. Give it a try with this fun, limitless experience.
This roller skate was designed by the Oxelo design team to meet all the needs of beginners or those who want to practice roller skating or roller dancing. Its high ankle shape, small heel, and lower brake than a "fitness" roller skate are all elements that facilitate artistic and dance movements (forward, backward, etc.).
If you're looking for a skate for riding on bike paths, for example, we recommend a fitness quad. This artistic quad will also allow you to get around town to your favorite dance spot.
In some roller dancing movements, it's possible to remove the brake pad (or stopper), like Ella in the photos and videos of her artistic quad dancing. This allows her to perform larger steps or certain specific movements without being hindered by the brake rubbing on the floor. During your first sessions, it's not necessary to remove it.
As with all sliding sports, falling can be part of the learning process (and even at an advanced level). To protect yourself as much as possible, we recommend wearing at least: knee pads, wrist guards and a helmet. Elbow pads and protective shorts can also be valuable allies when balance is not an issue.
Boot: Synthetic PU. Brake: Injected PU (does not leave marks on the floor)
European standard EN 13899 covers roller sports equipment and roller skates. This standard specifies safety requirements, specifications for test methods, marking, and information provided to reduce the risk of injury. This standard applies to roller skates intended for users weighing more than 20 kg and less than 100 kg.
Spare parts (58mm/85A wheels, ABEC 5 or ABEC 7 bearings) are available in stores and online. We recommend swapping wheels regularly (swapping the two wheels on the inside of the foot with those on the outside of the foot) to even out wear. The same goes for brakes: swapping the left and right brakes will help even out wear and prolong their lifespan.

The Quad Dancing D500 is an excellent product for beginners in roller dancing. It has a higher level of equipment than its competitors for superior durability. In particular, it has an aluminum frame where plastic frames are more commonly found. It is also more robust. The only downside is that black is a color more associated with men in artistic roller skating. All Oxelo needs to do is to release this product in various more trendy colors and there is no doubt that it will be a hit :-)
Very good job at Oxelo, finally a skate for less than 100€ but of very good quality: - Rigid boots but which do not hurt: good support - Frame with an adjustable brake system, where competitors only offer frames with large non-adjustable brakes for a higher price. - Good wheels, small size adapted to the agility required in roller dance. - Faux leather / vegan covering (which is often even more resistant than classic leather) Little tip: take your usual size, not bigger or smaller. And if you want a color other than black, do not forget that there are plenty of skate covers on the Internet ;)
