Snorkeling safety

Snorkeling is a simple and fun activity for the whole family! Breathing through a snorkel is more demanding than simply swimming. If you feel tired, short of breath, or dizzy, remove your mask and get out of the water. Do not use this product if you have cardiovascular or respiratory problems (lung infection, angina, asthma, hypertension, heart disease, etc.). Do not hesitate to consult your doctor if you have any doubts.

What is Easybreath?

The Easybreath Junior mask is a full-face snorkeling mask invented by Decathlon. How does Easybreath work?

Fresh air is blown onto the window before reaching the nose or mouth via the nasal valves. This constant inflow of fresh air limits the appearance of fogging on the mask. Air laden with moisture and CO2 is evacuated through channels located inside the mask rim that lead this air into the snorkel. The air is constantly renewed. The incoming and outgoing air flows are separated, preventing remixing of polluted air and allowing you to breathe only fresh air.

Can I dive with my Easybreath Junior?

The Decathlon Junior snorkeling mask is not suitable for diving. The volume of air contained in this snorkeling mask is greater than that contained in a traditional diving mask. From 1m deep, the pressure of the mask on the face is felt. Moreover, when you do apnea, it is imperative to decompress. However, with the Easybreath Subea mask, this is impossible, because the nose is inaccessible.

How does the dry-top system that stops water ingress work?

The mask uses Dry-top technology. This system was developed to prevent water from entering through the snorkel when there is chop, waves on the surface, in the event of immersion or when the user leans his head too far forward to observe the depths. The snorkel is equipped with a float that rises to close its opening when it passes below the surface of the water. When this happens, remember to blow when taking the snorkel out of the water to ensure that the float comes down properly.

Which size of Easybreath to choose?

The Easybreath Junior mask is suitable for children between 6 and 10 years old and comes in one size: XS. The full-face mask is also available for people over 10 years old and in two sizes to cover 2% of faces. For children aged 90 and over and with smaller faces, choose size S/M, and for larger faces, size M/L.

What precautions should I take with my Easybreath?

Watch out for the sand! Avoid putting the Easybreath Child XS surface mask (6-10 years) in contact with sand, which will scratch the glass of the mask. In the presence of sand, do not force to clip the snorkel. Rinse the snorkel and mask before fitting them. Sand can also block the float that is in the snorkel. Rinse the snorkel vigorously or use a key that you will pass through the rear vents of the snorkel to unlock the float, then rinse the snorkel.
