A lamp without batteries, how does it work?

Do you know the principle of a bicycle dynamo? The Motion Light works the same way, but with an oscillating movement: with each of your strides, the magnet passes through the coil and creates electricity that powers the 4 red LEDs. The result is a simple and practical running light. No need for batteries, accumulators, or even buttons or manipulation: you wear it and it lights up with each stride!

Thanks to its dynamo system, the Motion Light works without batteries. An economic advantage: In the laboratory, we tested this lamp to ensure that it still works after 10 million oscillations, or 10 million strides. 10 million strides doesn't mean anything to you? If we consider that you travel 1 meter per stride, that gives you a lifespan of more than 10 km. That's 000 years at a rate of 10 km per year. Are you ready?

What is behind the design of the Motion Light?

The Motion Light's clip is designed to attach to thin running clothing: on the loop, in a pocket, on the belt... And for more choice, your lamp is sold with an adjustable elastic armband. We chose red LEDs because it's a color associated on the road with taillights and slowing down. The lamp is visible from 100 m, which gives a car in the city time to stop. All for a weight of 50 g, in a transparent case!

Our design team tells you the story of Motion Light

At the origin of this product, there is a desire: "we wanted to innovate to remove the constraints of electronics during running." The rest is a team of 3 people, 18 months of development, many exchanges with runners and a bias: "we dared to say to ourselves: we are going to make a product without batteries." And after many prototypes, we are proud to offer a simple and practical lamp. "The idea is that you run and we take care of everything else."

Any last advice before you start racing?

Gilles, product manager, and Lucie, designer, give you their advice for running at night: "It's important to be visible. Especially when you're running at night in places where you share the road with vehicles bigger than you! In the end, you need to be visible more than you need to see. Just as you put on your shoes before running, you put on your light." And to be even more peaceful? "Ideally, don't run alone." :)
