Some additional tips for breaking in brake pads:

To preserve your brakes during the break-in period, use only one brake at a time, without applying sudden braking. Choose a flat surface for greater comfort. The break-in period can take up to 30 minutes, so be patient. If you notice a decrease in performance or colored marks on the discs, this indicates that the pads are glazed. In this case, don't hesitate to consult a Decathlon Workshop expert.

Breaking in bicycle brake pads is an essential procedure to ensure good braking efficiency:

The aim of bed-in is to gently heat the pads and discs to form an efficient contact surface. Before you begin, clean the discs, replace them if necessary, and make sure you're properly equipped: helmet, computer, or GPS. Perform the procedure on a flat, dry, and clear road.

The running-in procedure consists of gradually braking several times, at increasing speeds:

Successful break-in depends on proper brake rotation and adherence to specific steps: perform ten gradual braking sessions from 15 to 5 km/h, then repeat at 20 and 25 km/h. Remember to take a short break between each step to allow the disc and caliper to cool down properly.

What tools will you need:

When doing this, you may need: A pad spreader, brake cleaner and a microfiber cloth.
