Design
The 100 judo kimono is made with a polyester cotton fabric ensuring less shrinkage after repeated washing and faster drying than 100% cotton models. The judo kimonos have reinforcements at the collar (for the grip of the jacket) and reinforcement for the knees for ground combat.
How to choose your judo kimono?
Judo is a so-called "grip" combat sport. By grabbing his opponent, the young judoka must take his opponent's kimono in order to throw him to the ground, then possibly immobilize him. This is the reason why the kimono must be particularly resistant to traction, reinforced in areas of tension and friction.
Which kimono to choose according to your level of practice?
- A judoka who has discovered judo for 1 to 2 years, will choose a polyester/cotton kimono, in twill fabric (190 gr/m²), both flexible and resistant. - A judoka who has been practicing for 2 years (yellow or orange belt) or who is starting the competition, will choose a heavier grain of rice type kimono, extremely resistant to traction when taking guard. Its composition of polyester and cotton (350 gr/m²) provides good resistance to shrinkage, as well as quick drying.
What size to choose?
The size of your child will determine the size of the kimono from 100 cm to 150 cm. We advise you to choose a kimono 5 to 10 cm larger than your child's height. For example, your child is 133 cm tall, choose a 140 cm kimono.
Care
It is advisable to air out your kimono after each use. Regular washing will keep the white color of your kimono. The first washes will be carried out cold. Thereafter, do not exceed the water temperature of 30°C. Air dry, do not use a dryer.
The benefits of judo
Judo is a very physical sport: in one session, children exert themselves enormously. A complete sport: the goal being to control the weight of their opponents, children solicit and develop all of their muscles. This sport is also a psychological training. It allows a relaxation of the body and the spirit. Moreover "judo" means "way of flexibility".
