What voltage?
Moderate tension (18kg to 23kg) gives you more comfort, more spin and more power. On the other hand, you will have less control and precision. A high tension (>23kg) gives you more precision and control. However, watch out for tendonitis. In addition you will have less spin and power.
Monofilaments?
For monofilament strings, Decathlon recommends tensions between 19kg and 22kg. We strongly advise against monofilament ropes for children under 15 to avoid injuries. These strings are reserved for players who break in less than 10 hours of play, because they lose their tension very quickly.
Multifilament?
For multifilament strings, Decathlon recommends a maximum tension of 25kg! These strings are recommended for people sensitive to tendonitis, young people and people who break little. Multifilament strings keep their tension very well. For natural gut strings, Decathlon recommends a tension of less than 23 kg. These strings are the best in terms of comfort, sensations and power. In addition, the voltage resistance is very good.
When to change your string?
The performance of your racquet depends on 50% of your frame and 50% of your string! So take care of a string that is in top shape. For those who break a lot: we change on breakage. For those who never or rarely break, Decathlon recommends a change equal to the number of times you play per week . Example: I play once a week, so I change my string once a year. I play 1 times a week, so I change my string 1 times a year.
Decathlon advice
You must not stiffen a flexible rope, its performance will be too affected. A less tight string will allow you to play more relaxed, without forcing and therefore to have more power. By dint of playing, the string wears out even without breaking. It loses its elasticity, it loses its initial properties. The gauge (or diameter) also plays on the feel of the game. The thinner the gauge, the more power and spin you will have. The bigger the gauge, the more resistant and traumatic the string will be!
