What frequency and intensity of hiking?
We have classified our products in terms of performance and functionality to suit 3 levels of Mountain Hiking practice: - Occasional: about ten hikes per year of approximately 3 to 4 hours in duration, less than 10km and less than 700m of elevation.- Regular: about twenty outings per year. 4 to 6 hours, 10 to 20 km, 700 to 1200m of elevation gain per outing.- Intensive: more than 20 outings per year. More than 6 hours, more than 20 km, 1200 to 2000m of altitude difference per outing.
Sole with grip
The grip of our soles is labeled. To benefit from it, the shoe must pass laboratory tests to evaluate the grip coefficient on different surfaces (Smooth, Rough, Dry, Wet). To validate these tests, we have the quality of our soles evaluated in the field, in the mountains, by a panel of representative testers over 500 km.
Waterproof test
In the laboratory, the shoe is placed in water up to mid-shaft on a mechanical arm generating flexions of the shoe to simulate a number of steps. Thanks to this test we can determine a time and a number of km that the shoe can achieve while staying dry. Then we validate on the ground and in the rain that the shoe keeps its promises in use.
Prolong waterproofing
To keep your feet dry, it is advisable to use a waterproof gaiter or mini-gaiter which will protect the top of the shoe from water ingress, but also from stones, sand... We advise you to re-waterproof your shoes twice a year using a waterproofing agent (search for ""waterproofing agent"" on our decathlon site) which will restore the original water repellency and fight against external stains.
evofit concept
This shoe is equipped with the EVOFIT concept. The EVOFIT technology with its stretchy materials and its specific design on the articular area of the foot, allows the shoe to perfectly fit the shape of your foot.
Product design: our know-how
Our Quechua global design center is based in Passy, at the foot of Mont-Blanc in Haute Savoie. This location makes it a real meeting place between our teams (designers, product managers, engineers, etc.) and sports enthusiasts. outdoor. A great asset for designing your mountain hiking products, and bringing you all our expertise.
Which size to choose?
The most important thing is to try on several sizes and models of shoes to find the most suitable for you! You can take a size above your usual size to prevent the toes from knocking down on the descent, provided that the foot is well held to avoid rubbing. Tip: keep your nails short and check before any long descent that your lacing is tight to prevent your foot from slipping towards the front of the shoe.
Buying advice / how to try on your shoes?
Some Decathlon stores are equipped with a test course.1. Try on both shoes, standing, with the socks used for hiking.2. Tighten the laces, taking care to evenly distribute the tightening.3. Check two points:- the heel does not come off before the shoe when you walk uphill.- the foot does not slip and the toes do not bump into the front when going downhill.4. Try several sizes and models. Use them gradually to make them fit your foot.
How to avoid blisters?
Blisters generally appear when our skin is weakened by friction. In order to limit their appearance, we advise you to:- Choose a shoe in your size.- Wear suitable socks- Lace and tighten your shoes appropriately.- Do not hesitate to readjust the tightness of your laces during practice, especially before to start a climb or a descent.- Wear your shoes on a short outing the first time you use them.
What socks?
A waterproof shoe will be less breathable than a non-waterproof shoe. Socks such as the MH500, MH520 and MH900 with a medium upper are therefore to be preferred to wick away perspiration and limit friction.
Optimize the capabilities of your shoes: replace your insoles!
The original insole in your shoes aims to fit the widest range of feet. A change of insole can bring:1. Better support: some soles are preformed or reinforced to better support the arch of the foot.2. More comfort: the soles can also provide warmth and/or cushioning.3. Longer life: regain the support and comfort of your shoes by replacing the insole each season.
How to maintain your shoes?
- Leave to air dry.- Remove dry mud with a fairly hard brush.- For stains, clean with a brush and a little warm water- Leave to dry- Spray a re-waterproofing spray to restore water repellency on the upper.

Product Comments

Very comfortable, but already damaged inside
Awesome
Excellent shoes. The difference with the mh100 model is confirmed: better grip and real waterproofing. On the other hand, they deteriorate more quickly!! Good for the trash at least 2 times faster (detachment of the closed part of the sole). Disappointment about its longevity. (On the other hand, the sole is not worn at all)
