We recommend trying on several sizes and models to find the best fit. If you want to ensure your toes don't hit the shoe on descents, you can go up a size, provided your foot is well supported to prevent rubbing.
1. Try on both shoes while standing, wearing hiking socks. 2. Tighten the laces evenly. 3. Check two things: - your heel doesn't lift off the shoe before you walk uphill - your foot doesn't slip and your toes don't hit the ground when walking downhill.
The enhanced grip and durability of this high-performance sole are due to a proprietary rubber compound. The sole's tread pattern further improves traction. Our laboratory tests evaluate the coefficient of friction on various surfaces and conditions, and our field tests in the mountains confirm this.
The grip optimizes propulsion, prevents the shoes from slipping backward, and stabilizes them. It depends on the number and shape of the lugs. The traction provides grip to the soles to prevent slipping and skidding on smooth surfaces or in demanding conditions.
We recommend re-waterproofing your shoes twice a year with a waterproofing product (available on our website/in Decathlon stores) to continue protecting them from water. To prevent water from getting in at the top of your shoes, you can use waterproof gaiters.
1) Let them air dry. 2) Remove dried mud with a stiff brush. 3) Clean stains with a brush and a little warm water, then let them dry. 5) Spray with a waterproofing spray to restore water repellency to the upper.
The original insole of shoes is designed to fit the widest range of feet. Changing the insole can provide: - better support (pre-molded or reinforced insoles) - more comfort (warmth and/or cushioning) - a longer lifespan for your shoes.

We conduct laboratory tests. The shoe is placed in water up to the mid-upper, on a mechanical arm that flexes it, simulating a number of steps. We can then determine the time and distance the shoe can cover while remaining dry. Next, we verify these capabilities in the field and in the rain through usage tests.
