MT, two letters to talk about the mountain, the trail runner’s beloved. Shoes for the mountains, therefore, but not only: they are suitable for all terrains, from rock to mud, including dry trails. “You have to imagine yourself running on a light, soft and fluffy cushion. The MT CUSHION 2 is a shoe that protects and supports,” says Thierry, product manager. Cushion means cushioning, for a pleasant and comfortable practice, synonymous with pleasure and performance!
The suggestions for improvement that you suggested allowed us to challenge ourselves and progress in the making of this second version of the MT CUSHION, which we are even more proud of. On the program: - a new stud design for reliable and durable grip, - a reworked midsole for even softer cushioning, - and a new 100% MATRYX® textile upper (woven in Ardèche) for great durability.
Imposing, the least we can say (and without a bad pun), is that the MT CUSHION 2 has it under the sole. Indeed, the 100% KALENSOLE midsole induces an improvement in cushioning of 18% compared to the previous model, and an energy return of 57%. Not bad, eh? Resistant, this foam does not sag and gives you soft and comfortable cushioning, ideal for covering all those kilometers in the best conditions.
Our team designed the MT CUSHION 2 with an upper made 100% from MATRYX® textile, the benchmark on the trail running planet. Composed of high tenacity Polyester yarns coated with polyurethane, it provides unrivaled resistance. Its airy structure provides greater lightness and breathability. We have chosen to add aramid thread to this weave to provide even more support. Thanks to MATRYX®, you no longer have to choose between lightness and resistance.
The drop is the difference in height between the front and back of the shoe: 4 mm for the MT CUSHION 2, which classifies it as a low-drop shoe. With KALENSOLE foam heights of 22 mm in the heel and 18 mm under the forefoot, we were able to provide more cushioning and comfort to this more sensitive area of the foot. This also promotes good isolation of the foot from rough ground.
We opted for 5mm studs across the entire sole: the grip is optimal, and the shoe is neither weighed down nor stiffened by their weight. In addition, we spaced our studs far enough apart to make it easier to remove any soil that might get between them. The rubber on the sole has been carefully selected to provide good grip on wet stones or rocks. Enough to run in complete safety.
If the MT CUSHION 2 is synonymous with comfort, it also scores many points in terms of support. And for good reason, in addition to having alerted us, your numerous comments have also found extremely attentive ears in our team: thanks to them, thanks to you, we have reworked the neck of the MT CUSHION 2 to optimal foot support and great care... while respecting and preserving the comfort of your heel and your Achilles tendon.
You may have already noticed it... without really looking into it. We're talking about this little pocket located at the top of the tongue of your shoe, the one where you tie your laces. The pocket in question allows you to store your laces so that they don't come loose during exercise, get caught in a branch, or anything else. Plus, they stay clean, and we love that!

very good cushioning but much narrower than the MT3 pain after a few kilometers certainly more suitable for a narrow foot 9
I find these shoes expensive, they tighten on one part of the shoe which compresses the top of the foot, even with thin socks and when loosening the laces.
I do not recommend this pair of shoes for running.
This model is perfect for my sporty outings on the trails.
