The design of the sole has been the subject of extensive research in our laboratories. We have favored a specific rubber formulation to optimize grip and adhesion. As the needs are not the same, we systematically seek the best compromise to evolve on loose natural paths, such as forest paths.
Our hiking shoes are designed for use on natural trails. In fact, we choose and test the components of the sole and the upper of our shoes to best adapt to the practice of hiking on soft paths (such as a dirt forest path) or mineral paths (such as a rocky coastal path). Use on the road (asphalt) may accelerate the wear of your shoes and cause you discomfort. They are not suitable for mountain hiking.
Laboratory tests are also carried out to validate the following elements: tearing of eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of the sole and upper components, accelerated aging. These tests allow us to improve the quality of our products and prevent premature wear of our hiking boots.
After your hikes, we advise you to: - Leave to dry away from a heat source - On the very dry leather, brush vigorously with a stiff brush to remove mud and dirt - Use a crepe brush or nubuck eraser to remove stains - If the stains remain, clean with a brush and a little warm water - Leave to dry - Brush again with a stiff brush - Spray a waterproofer: this will give shine to the leather and liveliness to the color
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks you use for hiking. Try on several models, several sizes if necessary. Two comfort points should be checked: - the heel seat - the forefoot when going downhill Avoid any pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk to test the comfort. Use your shoes gradually during the first hikes to break them in to your feet.
There are many causes of blisters when hiking: friction, a crease in the sock, moisture, and the wrong size. It is therefore important to choose the right size and material for your socks. You should choose a sock size that fits your foot to avoid any additional creases: either because it is too big and there is too much material around the foot, or because it is too small and is pulled towards the inside of the shoe.
You have to manage the humidity as well as possible during your practice: you sweat, it's often unavoidable. The NH500 shoe is breathable, it will wick away moisture from your perspiration. It is therefore necessary to choose a light and breathable sock as well. You will prefer Hike 100 low or mid socks. They contain moisture-wicking cotton and have a terry construction that draws moisture away from your foot. Sufficiently high they protect your ankle from the shoe
