GUIDE TO SIZES MEN

To take your measurements:

  • Head:  Wrap a measuring tape around your head, above the eyebrows. Make sure it's parallel to the ground when your head is straight.
  • Chest:  Wrap a measuring tape around your back and come forward as far as your chest goes. Make sure it is straight and parallel to the ground.
    Raise your head, tighten the tape and breathe normally.
  • Size:  Wrap a tape measure around the narrowest part of your waist, above your belly button.
    Raise your head, tighten the tape and breathe normally.
  • Main:  Hold a tape measure at the bend of your thumb. Wrap around your palm.
  • Feet: hold on stand against a wall, heels touching the wall. Place an object (eg a book...) against your longest toe.
    Measure the length between the wall and the object.

      Thanks to all its functions, it allows you to: - Orient the map or plan - Follow a precise direction - Determine its position by three bearings to carry out a triangulation - Determine an object on the ground in relation to a known azimuth

      Graduations 360 degrees and 6 thousandths

      The rotating capsule consists of a double graduated ring: 360 degrees for the inner ring and 6 thousandths for the outer ring. The thousandth graduation, more precise, was historically widely used for military exercises.

      A mirror sight for more precision

      The mirror sighting system allows you to take precise measurements in the field. The small lock when opening the hood allows you to position the mirror in the ideal position (45°) for precise sighting. To understand how to take sightings, watch the explanatory video.

      3 graduated scales: 1:50000, 1:25000 and 1:10000

      The EXPLORER 900 compass is equipped with 3 graduations: A 7 cm graduated ruler A 1:50 scale A 000:1 scale A 25:000 scale A 1 inch graduated ruler They allow you to take measurements on your map and thus work on your scale reading

      Declination scale

      Inside the capsule, you'll find a declination scale. Magnetic declination is the difference in angle between magnetic north and true north on your map. Search online to find out the value of this declination in your country.

      When designing this compass, we opted for a wide needle to allow for more precise visual alignment of the needle with the north lines on the map. Indeed, your needle never aims at a graduation, it must only always be perfectly parallel with the lines of the card
