To take your measurements:

  • Head:  Wrap a measuring tape around your head, above the eyebrows. Make sure it's parallel to the ground when your head is straight.
  • Chest:  Wrap a measuring tape around your back and come forward as far as your chest goes. Make sure it is straight and parallel to the ground.
    Raise your head, tighten the tape and breathe normally.
  • Size:  Wrap a tape measure around the narrowest part of your waist, above your belly button.
    Raise your head, tighten the tape and breathe normally.
  • Main:  Hold a tape measure at the bend of your thumb. Wrap around your palm.
  • Feet: hold on stand against a wall, heels touching the wall. Place an object (eg a book...) against your longest toe.

      Choose the petanque ball that suits you based on several criteria.       The hardness of boules is expressed in ROCKWELL HRC units or in kg/mm². For example, 39 HRC corresponds to 124 kg/mm². The higher the number, the harder the ball. The harder the ball, the less it is damaged but the more it bounces, and vice versa. A regular player who uses soft balls should consider changing them regularly to maintain playing qualities.

      How to maintain petanque balls?

      At the end of each game, remove the dust with a clean cloth. Once a month, oil the petanque balls to prevent the appearance of rust. Regular maintenance will extend the life of petanque balls, while maintaining the playing qualities.

      How are DECATHLON competition-approved pétanque balls made?

      Our competition pétanque balls are hollow. Here are the steps in our manufacturing process: - A piece of steel heated to +/- 1000 C° is flattened, then stamped or forged to shape a 1/2 sphere. - These 1/2 spheres are then machined inside then welded and turned to obtain the spherical shape. - The ball is engraved, fired then dipped in baths which will determine its hardness. - Finally, it is polished or varnished then checked.
